Sight Word Booklets

Sight Word Take Home Booklets: Sight words are essential to reading development. Students take home the booklets to practice their word list. Then the student brings the booklet back to school and reads them to their teacher. Then the teacher attaches a sticker to the goal page and then staples a new list to the booklet. See the new pack HERE!

This listing includes:

  • a booklet for the Dolch Pre-Primer to Third Grade Sight Word Lists,
  • an EDITABLE version for you to create your own list,
  • & a bonus 100 Words to Know version.

Why is it important?

The Dolch Sight Word List comprises 80% of the words you would find in a typical children’s book and 50% of the words found in writing for adults. Once a child knows this list of words, it makes reading much easier because the child can then focus his or her attention on the remaining words. Students must memorize sight words instead of trying to sound them out. Please do not confuse these words with other words that may need to be sounded out phonetically.

My students love taking the booklets home and then coming back to class and reading their list to me. It gives my kiddos a sense of pride and responsibility. You can find the booklets HERE on Teachers Pay Teachers.

Another idea for sight words is this typing station. See more about it HERE.
