Short Vowel Word Ladder Mats:  I don’t know about you, but young kids can never have too many ways to practice cvc words.  I needed something I could use at my small group table and then retire to a station later.  I created these Short Vowel Word Ladder Mats for quick practice and review of short vowel word families.  Included are two pages for each vowel and several mixed review pages.  You can find my Short Vowel Word Ladder Mats on TpT.

I also added pages for the kids to add their own beginning sounds.

Here’s how one of my kinders is using the mats at my table.  The video is just one way to use the mats, once word family mats are mastered, they can be retired for extra practice to a literacy station.

My kids LOVE reading the words, it builds confidence!  The mats are perfect to print on my favorite paper by Astrobrights.
