Earthworm Close Read

· ·
Do your kids love learning about earthworms as much as my kids?  I mean, they say it’s gross…but their smiles give it away!  I created a small pack (15 pages) that is jam-packed with informational reading and printables for your kids to investigate their reading for meaning.
If you loved my turtle close read freebie, then you’ll love my Earthworm Close Read!
You can find this latest close read {HERE} on TpT.
In my first grade classroom, we have a “Worm Day” (I blogged about it {here} and the FREEBIE from way back then can be found{HERE})
We have wormy snacks…of course it includes “dirt” pudding filled with worms, but we also had sandwiches with “worms” (hotdogs cut thin and cooked- they turn out curly- yuck!)
Here are pics from Worm Day several years ago:
and even take pictures acting like we are “eating” earthworms…
either real…
or gummy- their choice!
It’s SO much fun.  But I think this close reading pack will add the informational text to bring the lessons up to the next level and cover those pesky (but necessary) common core standards!

  3. I homeschool my four boys ages 5-7 and they love all things creepy and crawly. I've been trying to think of ways to add more excitement to our days and this earthworm packet would certainly help! Can you come teach the hands on portion:)?
