[…] Alphabet Journal in Kindergarten: This year I tried directed drawing on the first day of school again. Yes, you heard that right….the first day! It almost sounds crazy. If you teach Kindergarten, you know what I am saying, there is a good portion of kids who can’t write their name or numbers. Why would I think they could follow along with directed drawings? At first, it was a struggle. I’m not going to lie. But I stuck with it, pushed through and understood that in the beginning their drawings were not going to be perfect (a little more “abstract”). But still cute! What I’ve learned over the last 22 days is that the directed drawings have taught my kids to follow directions, form lines and shapes, and more. If you are interested in more directed drawings, check out my blog post about Directed Drawings for the Whole Year. […]
