Monday Made It! Chevron Covered Table!

Ta-Dah!!

As many of you know, past year I covered my Yellow Small Group table with contact paper.  But being the fickle person that I am, I got tired of that and decided to change things up again!

My first thought was to peel the original contact paper off…and that should have worked.  But it was going to take FOREVER.  And I am not sure if you know this, but I am an impatient person!!
So I decided to take the easy way out and spray it with KILZ instead.

I really like how the table turned out!

It started with these:

I haven’t used the gray yet, but believe me, I have plans for it!!

I am so jealous! I wish we were allowed to cover our table. Does it remove easily without damaging the furniture? I would do that to my filing cabinet too! 🙂

It does not damage the furniture at all…BUT if I were to remove the original contact paper (which I initially started to do ) it would take a while and a lot of effort. =)

Haha, I just ordered that this morning, but I think I'll start by covering my bookcase and small table. If I covered my kidney table, I think my principal would have a heart attack!!! Hmmmm…..maybe I'll try to sneak it in, lol!!

I did some investigating and found this fella on etsy who makes one similar (although his is a little too tall, BUT he does custom orders! I am sure he could make one and just cut down the height. It is only like $25 with $13 shipping. You could paint it any color you like!

I cut a large piece that would more than cover the table and the trimmed a little bit of the excess, then I peeled gently a small section at a time, smoothing with my hand on top. After it was attached, then I trimmed the edges and rolled the corners down. Hope that helps! =)

Contact paper is very very easy to remove and doesn't leave a sticky residue at all. Marshall's and TJ Maxx when you can find it has contact paper. I bought some cheap rolls for my home from there. Unfortunately, I don't have a classroom but a cubby hole. LOL!

I want to do this! I got new desks, teacher desk, and a kidney table this year. Of course all the new stuff is beautiful. but they are gray and black. The rest of my old tables are brown! Doesn't match! I'm thinking maybe I could cover them with this so they match more…or at least don't stand out as old.

Great minds think alike…I bought the grey chevron & turquoise Moroccan @ TJ Maxx ($5.99 for a double roll) a few weeks ago to do my desk & round tables. I love that you wrapped it around the sides, I had intended to just do the top but yours looks like a better idea. Any tips before I do mine? Was it difficult to wrap the sides of the rounded parts?

I'm so glad I could help! As for the KILZ, I used it because I had previously put patterned shelf liner on the table and wanted a quick way to cover the table again, without having to go to the trouble of removing the first layer. If your table is plain, then you should have no trouble covering it without the KILZ =) (the only way I would have used it otherwise is if the table had a lacquer finish that wouldn't adhere to the contact paper…then maybe the KILZ would have helped it stick)
