Classroom Reveal 2014 {Meet the Teacher FREEBIE}

· · ·
Ok, so here it is (so far)…we started school last Thursday and I figured I needed to go ahead and share the pictures before my room gets that “lived in” look!
My new balance beam from IKEA works perfectly for seating at my carpet area:

All my rugs are from IKEA!
My new desk pockets…I am IN LOVE with them!  They are from Really Good Stuff {here}
IKEA’s rug and balance beam are perfect for my Word Work Area!

Behind my desk with gorgeous calendar accessories by Sarah Cooley that can be found {here}:

The chalkboard banners and frame are from Hobby Lobby.
The banner over my windows is from Target’s Party Section.
For Meet the Teacher I got my students large magnets that I found at Dollar Tree and attached a tag that says, “Let’s Stick Together in First Grade!”  They were a huge hit as the kids were occupied walking around the room trying to see what was magnetic and what was not.
I created a file that has a tag for 1st, 2nd, and Kindergarten…and a generic “Our Class” tag…Get your

And my hallway displays (previously shared on instagram)
And yes, there are only 16 names…and 2 haven’t come yet, so my roll is actually 14 right now =)  I can’t complain!
I hope you enjoyed this year’s tour of my classroom and that I didn’t bore you too much!
Oh, and if you have purchased my Dice Games Bundle, do download it again, I just added the Back to School Pack!  You can find the bundle {here} and the new pack {here}

  3. Ok, I need the scoop on your too cute "Bee"utiful display! Is that to display work? Are those metal book rings hanging? Is that painted on the wall? Do tell! I love, love, love it!!

    1. The black and brown frame are painted…and it is to display work =) The clips are from Target, they have a clothespin with a chalkboard circle attached to it. But you could use rings with them!

    1. It peels off pretty well, but if you leave it on a surface for a year or more, it will leave a sticky residue and may not peel off clean. I have used Goo-Gone to get rid of the stickiness though =)

  4. I love everything about your room. We have a lot of the same items and you gave me a different way to look at them. BUT I have to say T-H-A-N-K Y-O-U for sharing the ikea balance beam. I know this is a teachers blog, but I'm stepping aside and turning into a mama. My oldest daughter has been wanting one forever. The ikea(s) near me don't have them; were going to see my oldest son in Seattle tomorrow and they have it!!!! Funny thing is, we are 1,280 miles from home. If you hadn't posted, I wouldn't have thought to check – 🙂

  5. Just today I was googling, black and white polka dot rug! I found it at Ikea's website. Do you have the $19.99 one or is it the larger one? We are going there this week- it is a road trip!

  6. Your room is amazing! I think you should do a contest where the winner gets YOU to come redo their room (pick me!!!). haha Very wonderful to have the amount of kids you! I taught my own daughter in first grade and it was a great experience. Carol

  7. LOVE your room!! I need to quit looking at the pictures though or I'm going to have my whole paycheck spent before school starts 😉 I would like to mimic your bulletin board with your class list, but I'm curious about the paper background that looks like a notebook. Did you paint the lines on it?

  8. Your room is amazing. I wish you were my first grade teacher!
    BTW, I read about your use of GoNoodle on their blog. I'm teaching inclusion for the first time this year. I'll be the regular ed. co-teacher with a special ed. teacher. Looks like we'll have 30 kids–YIKES!

    she is so creative!!! I am bursting inside to show it off to all of my co-workers and parents!

  10. This will be my first year teaching 1st grade. I've taught second grade for three years. I am so excited but after reading your blog I am over the moon and can't wait to get started! Thanks for sharing, love it!!!

  11. Jennifer,
    Your classroom is just WONDERFUL!!! There aren't even words that can accurately describe it!! I read that someone else wrote- homey and I think that's it! That's what I love about it so much!! And the fact that its filled with polka dots- my favorite!!!! You hit the ball out of the park again and have a lucky bunch of kiddos!!

  12. I love the calendar from Hobby Lobby and everything about that bulletin board! How did you attach it?

    1. I used short nails and a hammer to get them to just barely go into the back of the board. It worked perfectly and came out easily without leaving a huge hole =)
