Thrift Store Gold

·
I finally got a chance to go to some thrift stores, something I rarely get to do with two toddlers.  I was looking for a chair, but instead I found a great little table, which I was incorrectly calling a telephone table…it is actually a step table (but I think either works =)  I got it for only $4.99!!
I forgot to take ‘before’ pictures…but it was just plain old 70’s style wood color.  I spray painted it with Kilz and then spray painted it turquoise.  Next I used painter’s tape to outline the rectangles and spray painted them with black chalk paint.
(love it)
Love the rainbow chevron rug?  Thank you, Bubbly Blonde Teacher!!

I used a paint pen to outline the rectangles…acrylic paint for the bog circles and voila!
I also bought cardstock (sort of) type banners at Target from the Party aisle and have them now across my windows!

And the last thing I worked on (that I took a picture of) is the first day frame…I had to jump on the bandwagon and make one!

  1. I'm laughing so hard right now–I just got the same rug because I saw it on Ginger's blog who saw it on Alisha's (thanks again Alisha)! I had to get 2. It's seriously the cutest little rug I ever had.

I LOVE your table! So, so creative! 🙂

  2. That table turned out super cute! I love the turquoise with black and white polka dots. Such a fun combo. I think I also need one of those first day picture frames. I love photo ops!

Also, TpT is having a back to school sale and I am having a linky party for bloggers that are also hosting sales in their store. I'd love you to come link up if you are planning a sale!

  3. Love, love, love the table and the thrift store. I have been doing almost ALL of my teacher decorating thanks to the thrift store – I just blogged about a Dr. Seuss shelf I created that cost me $3 for my classroom. LOVE it. Once again… LOVE the table. So cute.

  4. Hey Jennifer! I have been reading through as many of your blog posts as possible! My new hobby!!I love everything about your teaching style and classroom decor. I am curious what you use the step table for in your classroom?
    Thank you,

    1. Before moving to my current classroom I used it as a part of my writing station. A couple of kids could sit on the floor around it and use it as a desk. Now I use it as a table to hold what I need for my carpet time. Hope that helps!
