Pirate Map Idea

Not sure if this happens to you, but at Open House I am always overwhelmed by parents and kids coming in at once and (of course) wanting to know where their child’s desk is…and it doesn’t matter how many times I have lined up the desks/seen them with name tags on them, I *still* have to hunt for some of their names.  Well, this year I am doing a pirate/ocean themed classroom (I’ll post pics of what I’ve done so far soon) but my plan is to create a pirate map for each child…which is just a loose map of our classroom with an X where the “treasure” is (their desk) located.  That way, I can hand them their map and they can hunt for their desk on their own!  Here is a picture of the map so far..if you click on it, you can see it up close as a PDF at GoogleDocs.  I did it in Pages (like Word for Mac).  Maybe this will inspire some folks out there..I’d love to see what you come up with! =)
