Reading Celebration,New Label It Pack, and Freebie!

We created headband hats, directed drawing activities, and made Lorax Moustaches!

Better late than never, right?  For next week’s Reading Celebration Week at school,

I created a new/revised pack of labeling mats.  Everything you see basically has a B&W version for individual use if you don’t plan on placing the color versions in plastic inside a station.  There are also graphic organizers that are not in the picture below,  along with all the B&W versions that aren’t shown.
Depending upon your group’s level, some of the vocabulary would not work at Kindergarten for independent work.  I can see completing the mats with my Kinders together as a group, or with some background experience with the words…or at first and second grades independently.
Contents: 17 color Label It Mats, 17 B&W Label It Mats, Recording and Direction Page, 21 Color and B&W Graphic Organizers, and 2 activity writing pages.
For your Freebie, go here to TPT and click “Download Preview”!

This is adorable! Please forgive me for asking a silly question, but I don't teach kinder. Is labeling a prewriting skill? It seems like a rock star way to get into sentence writing. I had never even seen labeling activities until I discovered tpt a year ago. So that is my silly question of the day! I would be thrilled to win your pack because we do a ton with rhyming at the beginning of first grade and many struggle with sentence writing at the start of the year. This adorbs pack would make a week 2 theme!

Hi Katie! Here is a guest post that I did a while back that discusses labeling and how I typically use it in my First Grade classroom: http://funforfirst.blogspot.com/2012/06/well-here-it-is-i-promised-you-guest.html

      Hope that helps!
