No, David! Directed Drawing
No, David! Directed Drawing: Each year, one of the first books I read with my class is No, David! by David Shannon. Then I follow up with David Goes to School. Yes, the kids love to see his naked hiney running down the street, but they also love seeing all the things you shouldn’t do at school and home. They can giggle and talk about how we don’t want to be like David!
In the past, I’ve done writing activities about David, but this year I added a directed drawing and it was a HIT! Keep in mind this was on day 12 of kindergarten. I think they did a great job!
